Verba volant, scripta manent

Verba Volant Scripta Manent is a project about time and memory in an age of flying information, and also about my own, mostly unaware, feeling that digital art is built to vanish.

It runs on two objects. A Twitter bot that posts the old Latin proverb "Verba Volant Scripta Manent" over and over, forever, and a marble slab where the same words are carved using the look and feel of a tweet. The most fleeting medium and the most permanent one, saying exactly the same thing.

It was released in 2017 as an installation for the show Segni Leggeri, Internet is not forever, in Parma, as an online intervention for Arshake magazine, and as a standalone browser work at verba-volant-scripta-manent.online.
