Fosco Loiti Celant is an artistic identity, one of the pseudonyms and heteronyms used by Guido Segni (Clemente Pestelli), through which he has staged communication-guerrilla interventions in the worlds of art and design.
A fictional biography
According to his official biography, Fosco Loiti Celant was born in Bologna on 9 February 1976 and lives and works in Milan, Pontedera, Rome, Pesaro, and Paris. His production is closely tied to social conflict, and he exhibits mainly in squats, orgies, clashes, trains, and occupied villages: anywhere but the usual art venues.
Interventions
MiArt StrikeNow! (2009) — an intervention at MiArt, the Milan art fair.
Think Tank StrikeNow! (2010) — on 14 April 2010, during the Salone del Mobile, a public vote on the installations of the Interni Think Tank exhibition in the cloisters of the Università Statale di Milano. Launched with the slogan “Ricerchiamo le tue competenze, scegliamo il tuo futuro”, it targeted the creeping privatization of the university and the logic of cognitive capitalism that feeds on young creativity. In the lineage of multiple names
The project belongs to the Italian tradition of communication guerrilla and shared identities, alongside San Precario, Serpica Naro, and Anna Adamolo, using fakes and media disguises to unsettle the art system.
